Short answer

Can I get blood pressure medicine online in Texas?

Yes, for adults 18 and older in Texas. Refills and adjustments for high blood pressure you already treat — guided by your home readings, not a waiting room. Review is by a Texas-licensed Passion Health clinician, 24/7 on weekdays and 7 AM–9 PM CT on weekends. The flat price is $89, or use insurance. If labs are needed, your clinician usually orders the Diabetes & Kidney panel (A1c, metabolic panel, cholesterol and urine albumin), $69, through Passion Health Blood Work, drawn at a Passion Health clinic or any CPL patient service center in Texas; with insurance, the lab bills your plan directly. Medicines a clinician may consider include lisinopril / losartan, amlodipine and hydrochlorothiazide — never controlled medicines, and a prescription is never guaranteed. If your high blood pressure has never been treated (a new diagnosis), you need an in-person visit within a few days instead, and you don't pay the online fee. Already a Passion Health patient with insurance? We book you with your own clinician instead.

About the condition

What to know about high blood pressure

High blood pressure (hypertension) means the force of blood against your artery walls stays too high, usually 130/80 or above. It rarely causes symptoms but raises the risk of heart attack, stroke and kidney disease. Age, family history, salt, extra weight, alcohol and inactivity add to it, and South Asian adults face higher heart risk at younger ages.

Before you start

Is online care right for you?

A good fit for online care

  • High blood pressure that's already diagnosed and treated
  • You check your blood pressure at home and can share recent readings
  • You need a refill, or your readings suggest a dose change
  • You're new to Passion Health, uninsured, or live outside Dallas–Fort Worth

Book an in-person visit instead if

  • Your high blood pressure has never been treated (a new diagnosis) Within days
  • You are pregnant or gave birth in the last 6 weeks Same day
  • Blood pressure 180/120 or higher on 2 readings 5 minutes apart, without chest pain, breathing trouble, weakness, numbness, vision change, confusion or a severe headache Same day

Not near one of our clinics? Online Care is open to adults anywhere in Texas; our clinics are in Dallas–Fort Worth. If the safety questions or your clinician show you need to be examined, we tell you what kind of care you need and how soon — an emergency room, an urgent care center, or a clinician near you. If you've already paid, the full fee is refunded and you get a written summary of your visit to take with you.

Call 911 or go to the ER now if you have

Call 911

  • Blood pressure 180/120 or higher with chest pain, shortness of breath, weakness or numbness, trouble speaking, vision change, confusion or a severe headache
  • Chest pain or tightness when you exert yourself
  • Swelling of your lips, tongue, face or throat, especially if you take lisinopril or another ACE inhibitor
  • Racing or pounding heartbeat with fainting, chest pain or shortness of breath
  • Leg swelling with shortness of breath
  • An arm or leg that is suddenly cold, pale and painful

Emergency room now

  • You're pregnant or gave birth in the last 6 weeks, and have a reading of 160/110 or higher, a severe headache, vision changes, pain under your right ribs or shortness of breath
  • Resting heart rate over 120, or under 45 with dizziness
  • One leg suddenly swollen, red, warm or painful

Also call 911 for chest pain, trouble breathing, stroke signs, a sudden severe headache, fainting, a seizure, severe bleeding, new confusion, throat swelling, an overdose or thoughts of harming someone else — and call or text 988 for thoughts of harming yourself. If screening routes you before you pay, nothing is charged. If a clinician routes you after you've paid, the full fee is refunded.

Already a Passion Health patient?

If Passion Health is your primary care practice and you have insurance, book this with your own clinician — in person or by video, billed to your plan like any visit, with no online fee. Your clinician knows your history and can adjust your whole plan, not just this one problem. Online high blood pressure care is for new patients, uninsured patients and patients outside Dallas–Fort Worth; established patients without insurance pay the $39 renewal rate.

How it works

How your high blood pressure visit works

Answer the high blood pressure intake

About 5 minutes, with photos if they help. Emergency and safety questions come first.

  2. 2
A clinician reviews it the same day

A Texas-licensed Passion Health clinician reads everything and calls or videos you if they need more.

  3. 3
    You get a plan

If treatment is appropriate, a prescription goes to the pharmacy you choose.

  4. 4
    Follow-up is built in

A 48-hour check-in and secure messaging. If you need to be seen, a same-day visit at our Dallas–Fort Worth clinics, or clear advice on where to go near you.

What these medicines may cost without insurance

Example cash prices for the medicines listed above

Losartan tablets30 tablets$10.67–$11.04
Amlodipine tablets30 tablets$10.36–$10.55
Hydrochlorothiazide tablets or capsules30 tablets or capsules$10.50–$11.47

Generic prices are mail-order cash prices listed by Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company on October 15, 2026, including its $5.00 pharmacy fee and $5.25 standard shipping. A shorter course costs less.

Shown so you can plan, not to point you to a pharmacy. Any Texas pharmacy can fill your prescription, and its cash price may be higher or lower. With insurance, your plan sets your cost, and a cash purchase usually doesn't count toward your deductible. If you have Medicare or Medicaid, ask the pharmacy to use your coverage first. Prices change. Passion Health doesn't sell medicine and receives nothing from any pharmacy or drugmaker. A prescription is never guaranteed.

Shown so you know what to expect. The reviewing clinician decides what, if anything, is appropriate for you — a prescription is never guaranteed, and controlled medicines are never prescribed online.

Labs, tests and Passion Health services

  • If your clinician recommends a metabolic panel after a medicine change, you can have it drawn at a Passion Health clinic or at any CPL patient service center in Texas.
  • If your clinician recommends remote blood pressure monitoring between visits, you can enroll in Passion Health's monitoring program.
Price & insurance

How much does an online high blood pressure visit cost?

Standard evaluation
$89
  • Everything in Quick
  • Lab orders when needed (labs billed separately)
  • 30 days of secure messaging

Using insurance: we're in network with BCBS of Texas, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, Humana and Healthcare Highways, and we verify eligibility for every plan before review — you see your estimated cost-share first. New patients have a short video visit, because plans pay for a visit, not a form. Same-day review applies to self-pay visits; insurance visits begin once we've verified your plan, which is the next business morning if you submit overnight or on a weekend. Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP and TRICARE are billed to the program, and the cash rate isn't offered for covered services.

Full refund if your case isn't accepted: if the clinician doesn't accept your case for online care, for any reason, the full fee is refunded to your card within 10 business days, and we help you get the care you need: a same-day visit at one of our Dallas–Fort Worth clinics or, if you're not near one, clear advice on where to be seen and a written summary of your visit. With insurance, no claim is submitted for the online review. Paying the flat price yourself? You can ask for a written Good Faith Estimate before your visit.

Labs your clinician orders are priced through Passion Health Blood Work if you self-pay, or billed to your plan directly by the lab (CPL) if you use insurance; imaging is billed by the imaging center and medication is paid at your pharmacy. Passion Health doesn't sell, ship or mark up medication.

Follow-up

A 48-hour check-in, 30 days of secure messaging, and lab follow-up when labs were ordered.

90-day refills. Metabolic panel within 2 weeks of any ACE inhibitor, ARB, or diuretic change, and yearly otherwise. An in-person check once a year, at a Passion Health clinic or with a local clinician who sends us the results, keeps you eligible for online refills.

Labs your clinician may order

Priced through Passion Health Blood Work

Kidney function, electrolytes, cholesterol, A1c and urine albumin: the standard checks when blood pressure medicine is started or changed. Ordered only if your clinician decides it's needed — the visit price never includes a test you don't need.

All Blood Work tests
Diabetes & Kidney panelA1c, metabolic panel, cholesterol and urine albumin$69

Typical self-pay total: $89 visit + $69 labs = $158

Self-pay prices are billed by Passion Health. If you use insurance — including Medicare and Medicaid — the lab (CPL) bills your plan directly for the tests under your plan's lab benefits, and the prices above don't apply. Blood is drawn at a Passion Health clinic in North Texas or at any CPL patient service center in Texas; your clinician reviews your results and contacts you.

Questions

Questions about high blood pressure care

How much does an online high blood pressure visit cost?

The flat cash rate is $89 for a standard evaluation, or use your insurance and pay your plan's cost-share — we show you an estimate before review starts. Medication is paid at your pharmacy. If the clinician doesn't accept your case for online care, for any reason, the full fee is refunded to your card.

Will I talk to someone, or is it just a form?

A Texas-licensed Passion Health clinician reviews every intake and decides your plan — not software. For high blood pressure, Texas law lets the clinician evaluate you from a condition-specific intake plus your photos and records, and they'll call or video you whenever something needs a conversation. New patients using insurance have a short video visit, because plans pay for a visit, not a form.

Is a prescription guaranteed?

No. You're paying for a licensed clinician's evaluation and plan. Many visits end with a prescription; some end with a different plan, a test, or a referral. Controlled medicines — stimulants, benzodiazepines, opioids, testosterone, sleep aids like zolpidem — are never prescribed at an online visit.

I'm already a Passion Health patient. Can I use this?

If you have insurance, we'll book you with your own Passion Health clinician instead — in person or by video, billed to your plan like any visit, with no online fee. Your clinician knows your history and can adjust your whole plan. If you're an established patient without insurance, continuing a treatment we already prescribed uses the $39 follow-up rate; a new problem uses this page's price.

Where do I get labs drawn, and what do they cost?

If your clinician orders labs, they're priced through Passion Health Blood Work: for high blood pressure that's usually the Diabetes & Kidney panel (A1c, metabolic panel, cholesterol and urine albumin), $69, through Passion Health Blood Work (self-pay prices, billed by Passion Health). If you use insurance, including Medicare or Medicaid, the lab (CPL) bills your plan directly and those prices don't apply. You can have blood drawn at a Passion Health clinic in Dallas–Fort Worth or walk into any CPL patient service center in Texas with a photo ID; your clinician reviews your results and contacts you.

I'm already a Passion Health patient. Should I use this?

Online blood pressure care is mainly for new patients, uninsured patients, and people who live outside Dallas–Fort Worth. If Passion Health is already your primary care practice and you have insurance, the intake will point you to book with your own clinician, in person or by video, billed as a normal visit. Uninsured established patients may be offered a renewal visit instead.

What if I don't have recent home readings?

We'll ask you to take a week of readings first. Use an upper-arm cuff, sit quietly for 5 minutes, and take two readings a minute apart, morning and evening. Write them down or photograph the screen. Your clinician changes a dose only on at least 12 readings taken over 3 or more days with an upper-arm cuff. If a reading is 180/120 or higher and you have chest pain, shortness of breath, weakness or numbness, trouble speaking, vision change, confusion or a severe headache, call 911. If it's 180/120 or higher on 2 readings 5 minutes apart and you feel otherwise well, don't wait for an online review: get seen today at a clinic or urgent care, or an emergency room if you can't.

How often do I need labs or an in-person visit?

Before an ACE inhibitor, ARB or water pill is started or raised, you need a metabolic panel (kidney function and potassium) from the last 12 months; if yours is older or you're not sure, your clinician orders one first. The panel is checked again within 2 weeks of starting or changing an ACE inhibitor, ARB or diuretic, and yearly otherwise. Refills are usually written for 90 days, and an in-person check once a year, at a Passion Health clinic or with a local clinician who sends us the results, keeps you eligible for online refills.

Can I take blood pressure medicine if I could become pregnant?

Some blood pressure medicines, including lisinopril, losartan and others in the same families (ACE inhibitors and ARBs), can harm an unborn baby. The intake asks whether you're pregnant, trying to get pregnant or breastfeeding. If you could become pregnant, your clinician will talk with you about reliable birth control or a different medicine. If you become pregnant while taking one of these medicines, stop it and contact us the same day.

The Texas law behind this visit

A clinician may form a valid patient relationship online using store-and-forward technology — your condition-specific intake, photos and records — paired with a call or video when needed, as long as the in-person standard of care is met (Tex. Occ. Code §111.005(a)(3), §111.007). Your clinician gives you guidance on follow-up care and, with your consent, sends new patients' visit notes to their primary care physician within 72 hours (§111.005(b)).
