Short answer

Can I get online care for neuropathy in Texas?

Yes, for adults 18 and older in Texas. Numbness, tingling, or burning in your feet or hands? A clinician looks for the cause, orders labs if needed, and plans next steps. Review is by a Texas-licensed Passion Health clinician, 24/7 on weekdays and 7 AM–9 PM CT on weekends. The flat price is $89, or use insurance. If labs are needed, your clinician usually orders Hemoglobin A1c, Vitamin B12 and Comprehensive metabolic panel, $71 including the $29 draw-and-review fee, through Passion Health Blood Work, drawn at a Passion Health clinic or any CPL patient service center in Texas; with insurance, the lab bills your plan directly. A prescription goes to the pharmacy you choose only if it's appropriate; controlled medicines are never prescribed online. If you have a sore or open wound on your foot, or a foot that is suddenly red, warm, and swollen, you need to be seen in person today instead (at our Dallas–Fort Worth clinics, or urgent care near you), and you don't pay the online fee. Already a Passion Health patient with insurance? We book you with your own clinician instead.

About the condition

What to know about neuropathy

Peripheral neuropathy is damage to the nerves that carry feeling and signals to your feet, legs, and hands. It often causes numbness, tingling, burning, or sharp pain that starts in the toes. Diabetes is the most common cause in the U.S. Low vitamin B12, heavy alcohol use, thyroid disease, kidney disease, and some chemotherapy can also cause it.

What causes tingling and nerve pain in the feet?

Pins and needles, burning, or electric-shock pain in the feet or hands is often nerve pain from neuropathy. It usually starts in both feet and slowly moves up, like a stocking. Pain on only one side or down one leg is more often a pinched nerve in the back and is checked differently.

Before you start

Is online care right for you?

A good fit for online care

  • Numbness, tingling, or burning in both feet or both hands that came on slowly
  • You have diabetes and want your nerve symptoms and foot risk reviewed
  • You want labs to look for causes such as diabetes, low B12, or thyroid problems
  • You've been diagnosed with neuropathy and want a check-in on symptoms and foot care

Book an in-person visit instead if

  • A sore or open wound on your foot, or a foot that is suddenly red, warm, and swollen Same day
  • You need a refill of a controlled nerve-pain medicine such as pregabalin Within days

Not near one of our clinics? Online Care is open to adults anywhere in Texas; our clinics are in Dallas–Fort Worth. If the safety questions or your clinician show you need to be examined, we tell you what kind of care you need and how soon — an emergency room, an urgent care center, or a clinician near you. If you've already paid, the full fee is refunded and you get a written summary of your visit to take with you.

Call 911 or go to the ER now if you have

Emergency room now

  • Weakness or numbness that is spreading quickly over hours or days, especially moving up your legs
  • New loss of control of your bladder or bowels
  • Numbness in your groin, inner thighs, or the area you'd sit on a saddle

Also call 911 for chest pain, trouble breathing, stroke signs, a sudden severe headache, fainting, a seizure, severe bleeding, new confusion, throat swelling, an overdose or thoughts of harming someone else — and call or text 988 for thoughts of harming yourself. If screening routes you before you pay, nothing is charged. If a clinician routes you after you've paid, the full fee is refunded.

Already a Passion Health patient?

If Passion Health is your primary care practice and you have insurance, book this with your own clinician — in person or by video, billed to your plan like any visit, with no online fee. Your clinician knows your history and can adjust your whole plan, not just this one problem. Online neuropathy care is for new patients, uninsured patients and patients outside Dallas–Fort Worth; established patients without insurance pay the $39 renewal rate.

How it works

How your neuropathy visit works

  1. 1
    Answer the neuropathy intake

Upload prior results or home readings if you have them.

  2. 2
A clinician reviews it the same day

If labs would help, the order goes to a Passion Health clinic, or to any CPL patient service center in Texas.

  3. 3
    Results go to your clinician

Your clinician reviews them and contacts you with your plan.

  4. 4
    Follow-up on a schedule

Check-ins and repeat labs timed to your condition; 30 days of messaging.

Your care

What to expect from your clinician

What your clinician may consider

  • A review of where your symptoms are, how they started, and possible causes such as diabetes, alcohol, B12, thyroid, kidney disease, or past chemotherapy
  • Blood tests such as an A1c and vitamin B12, and sometimes others, if appropriate
  • A foot-care plan, and an in-person foot exam if your clinician needs one
  • Non-controlled medicines for nerve pain, if appropriate. Controlled medicines such as pregabalin are not prescribed online; if one might help, a Passion Health physician evaluates you in person first, and any controlled medicine starts at that visit
  • A referral to a neurologist if your clinician wants a specialist's input (our specialist eConsult service is coming soon)

Shown so you know what to expect. The reviewing clinician decides what, if anything, is appropriate for you — a prescription is never guaranteed, and controlled medicines are never prescribed online.

Labs, tests and Passion Health services

  • If your clinician recommends an A1c, vitamin B12, or other blood tests, you can have them drawn at a Passion Health clinic or at any CPL patient service center in Texas.
Price & insurance

How much does an online neuropathy visit cost?

Standard evaluation
$89
  • Everything in Quick
  • Lab orders when needed (labs billed separately)
  • 30 days of secure messaging

Using insurance: we're in network with BCBS of Texas, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, Humana and Healthcare Highways, and we verify eligibility for every plan before review — you see your estimated cost-share first. New patients have a short video visit, because plans pay for a visit, not a form. Same-day review applies to self-pay visits; insurance visits begin once we've verified your plan, which is the next business morning if you submit overnight or on a weekend. Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP and TRICARE are billed to the program, and the cash rate isn't offered for covered services.

Full refund if your case isn't accepted: if the clinician doesn't accept your case for online care, for any reason, the full fee is refunded to your card within 10 business days, and we help you get the care you need: a same-day visit at one of our Dallas–Fort Worth clinics or, if you're not near one, clear advice on where to be seen and a written summary of your visit. With insurance, no claim is submitted for the online review. Paying the flat price yourself? You can ask for a written Good Faith Estimate before your visit.

Labs your clinician orders are priced through Passion Health Blood Work if you self-pay, or billed to your plan directly by the lab (CPL) if you use insurance; imaging is billed by the imaging center and medication is paid at your pharmacy. Passion Health doesn't sell, ship or mark up medication.

Follow-up

A 48-hour check-in, 30 days of secure messaging, and lab follow-up when labs were ordered.

Your clinician reviews lab results with you by phone or in the PHi portal and adjusts your plan. Ongoing neuropathy care includes a yearly in-person foot exam, especially if you have diabetes.

Labs your clinician may order

Priced through Passion Health Blood Work

Blood sugar, B12 and kidney function are the common reversible causes. Ordered only if your clinician decides it's needed — the visit price never includes a test you don't need.

All Blood Work tests
Hemoglobin A1cThree-month blood sugar average$12
Vitamin B12Vegetarian diets, metformin, numbness$18
Comprehensive metabolic panelGlucose, kidney, liver, electrolytes (14 results)$12
Draw and clinician-review fee One per order of single tests; not charged when the order includes a Blood Work bundle$29

Typical self-pay total: $89 visit + $71 labs = $160

Self-pay prices are billed by Passion Health. If you use insurance — including Medicare and Medicaid — the lab (CPL) bills your plan directly for the tests under your plan's lab benefits, and the prices above don't apply. Blood is drawn at a Passion Health clinic in North Texas or at any CPL patient service center in Texas; your clinician reviews your results and contacts you.

Questions

Questions about neuropathy care

How much does an online neuropathy visit cost?

The flat cash rate is $89 for a standard evaluation, or use your insurance and pay your plan's cost-share — we show you an estimate before review starts. Labs and imaging are billed separately. Medication is paid at your pharmacy. If the clinician doesn't accept your case for online care, for any reason, the full fee is refunded to your card.

Will I talk to someone, or is it just a form?

A Texas-licensed Passion Health clinician reviews every intake and decides your plan — not software. For neuropathy, Texas law lets the clinician evaluate you from a condition-specific intake plus your photos and records, and they'll call or video you whenever something needs a conversation. New patients using insurance have a short video visit, because plans pay for a visit, not a form.

Is a prescription guaranteed?

No. You're paying for a licensed clinician's evaluation and plan. Many visits end with a prescription; some end with a different plan, a test, or a referral. Controlled medicines — stimulants, benzodiazepines, opioids, testosterone, sleep aids like zolpidem — are never prescribed at an online visit.

I'm already a Passion Health patient. Can I use this?

If you have insurance, we'll book you with your own Passion Health clinician instead — in person or by video, billed to your plan like any visit, with no online fee. Your clinician knows your history and can adjust your whole plan. If you're an established patient without insurance, continuing a treatment we already prescribed uses the $39 follow-up rate; a new problem uses this page's price.

Where do I get labs drawn, and what do they cost?

If your clinician orders labs, they're priced through Passion Health Blood Work: for neuropathy that's usually Hemoglobin A1c, Vitamin B12 and Comprehensive metabolic panel, $71 including the $29 draw-and-review fee, through Passion Health Blood Work (self-pay prices, billed by Passion Health). If you use insurance, including Medicare or Medicaid, the lab (CPL) bills your plan directly and those prices don't apply. You can have blood drawn at a Passion Health clinic in Dallas–Fort Worth or walk into any CPL patient service center in Texas with a photo ID; your clinician reviews your results and contacts you.

Will my neuropathy get better?

It depends on the cause. When a cause such as low B12, a medicine side effect, or heavy drinking is found and treated early, symptoms may improve. Nerve damage from long-standing diabetes usually doesn't go away, but keeping blood sugar in range can slow it, and treatment can ease pain. Your clinician will be honest about what to expect in your situation.

Can I get pregabalin for nerve pain online?

No. Pregabalin is a controlled medicine, and Passion Health does not prescribe controlled medicines at an online visit. Your clinician can talk with you about non-controlled options, foot care, and other approaches. If a controlled medicine might help, a Passion Health physician evaluates you in person first, and any such medicine would start at that visit.

Why do you need photos of my feet?

Numb feet can't feel small cuts, blisters, or pressure spots, so injuries can go unnoticed and turn into ulcers or infections, especially with diabetes. Photos help your clinician spot problems early. Check your feet every day, wear shoes that fit well, and avoid walking barefoot. Any open sore should be seen in person.

The Texas law behind this visit

A clinician may form a valid patient relationship online using store-and-forward technology — your condition-specific intake, photos and records — paired with a call or video when needed, as long as the in-person standard of care is met (Tex. Occ. Code §111.005(a)(3), §111.007). Your clinician gives you guidance on follow-up care and, with your consent, sends new patients' visit notes to their primary care physician within 72 hours (§111.005(b)).
