Short answer

Can I get online care for foot numbness in Texas?

Yes, for adults 18 and older in Texas. Numb, tingling or burning feet or toes? A Texas clinician reviews your symptoms and medicines, may suggest labs, and arranges the hands-on foot exam most new numbness needs. Review is by a Texas-licensed Passion Health clinician, 24/7 on weekdays and 7 AM–9 PM CT on weekends. The flat price is $89, or use insurance. If labs are needed, your clinician usually orders Hemoglobin A1c and Vitamin B12, $59 including the $29 draw-and-review fee, through Passion Health Blood Work, drawn at a Passion Health clinic or any CPL patient service center in Texas; with insurance, the lab bills your plan directly. A prescription goes to the pharmacy you choose only if it's appropriate; controlled medicines are never prescribed online. If you have a sore, blister or wound on your foot that isn't healing, you need to be seen in person today instead (at our Dallas–Fort Worth clinics, or urgent care near you), and you don't pay the online fee.

About the condition

What to know about foot numbness

Foot numbness is reduced feeling, tingling or pins and needles in the feet or toes. The most common long-term cause is nerve damage (peripheral neuropathy) from diabetes, but low vitamin B12, alcohol, thyroid problems, some medicines, a pinched nerve in the back, tight shoes and poor circulation can also cause it. Numb feet raise the risk of unnoticed injuries.

Toe numbness

Numbness in one or two toes often comes from pressure, such as tight or narrow shoes, a bunion, or an irritated nerve between the toes called Morton's neuroma. Numbness that starts in all the toes of both feet and slowly creeps upward is more typical of neuropathy. Your clinician will ask which toes are affected and how it started to tell these apart.

Is online care right for you?

A good fit for online care

  • Gradual numbness, tingling or burning in both feet
  • Numbness in one or two toes from shoes or foot pressure
  • Known diabetes with new foot tingling and no wounds — we order labs if appropriate and arrange your foot exam
  • Wanting labs to look for common causes such as B12 or blood sugar
  • Starting the workup for new numbness — a symptom and medicine review, and labs if appropriate — before the hands-on exam it usually needs

Book an in-person visit instead if

  • A sore, blister or wound on your foot that isn't healing Same day
  • Your foot slaps or drags when you walk, or you trip because you can't lift your toes Same day
  • Numbness that started with severe back pain or a back injury Same day

Not near one of our clinics? Online Care is open to adults anywhere in Texas; our clinics are in Dallas–Fort Worth. If the safety questions or your clinician show you need to be examined, we tell you what kind of care you need and how soon — an emergency room, an urgent care center, or a clinician near you. If you've already paid, the full fee is refunded and you get a written summary of your visit to take with you.

Call 911 or go to the ER now if you have

Call 911

  • Your foot is suddenly cold, pale or painful
  • A sudden, explosive "worst ever" headache
  • New weakness, numbness, trouble speaking or vision loss

Emergency room now

  • Numbness or weakness spreading up your legs over hours to days
  • Headache with fever and a stiff neck
  • A head injury while you take a blood thinner
  • Weakness that is getting worse
  • Numbness in the groin or buttocks, or losing control of your bladder or bowels

Also call 911 for chest pain, trouble breathing, stroke signs, a sudden severe headache, fainting, a seizure, severe bleeding, new confusion, throat swelling, an overdose or thoughts of harming someone else — and call or text 988 for thoughts of harming yourself. If screening routes you before you pay, nothing is charged. If a clinician routes you after you've paid, the full fee is refunded.

How it works

How your foot numbness visit works

  1. 1
    Answer the foot numbness intake

Upload prior results or home readings if you have them.

  2. 2
A clinician reviews it the same day

If labs would help, the order goes to a Passion Health clinic, or to any CPL patient service center in Texas.

  3. 3
    Results go to your clinician

Your clinician reviews them and contacts you with your plan.

  4. 4
    Follow-up on a schedule

Check-ins and repeat labs timed to your condition; 30 days of messaging.

Your care

What to expect from your clinician

What your clinician may consider

  • A review of where the numbness is, how it started and how quickly it's changing
  • Blood tests such as A1c, vitamin B12, thyroid and kidney tests, if appropriate
  • A check of medicines and alcohol use that can affect nerves
  • Daily foot-care advice, and the in-person exam of feeling, reflexes and pulses in your feet that new numbness usually needs — booked at a Passion Health clinic and billed as a clinic visit, or, if you're not near one of our clinics, we tell you where to be seen near you
  • A non-controlled medicine for burning nerve pain, or a nerve study referral, if appropriate

Shown so you know what to expect. The reviewing clinician decides what, if anything, is appropriate for you — a prescription is never guaranteed, and controlled medicines are never prescribed online.

Labs, tests and Passion Health services

  • If your clinician recommends blood tests such as an A1c or vitamin B12, you can have them drawn at a Passion Health clinic or at any CPL patient service center in Texas.

How much does an online foot numbness visit cost?

Standard evaluation
$89
  • Everything in Quick
  • Lab orders when needed (labs billed separately)
  • 30 days of secure messaging

Using insurance: we're in network with BCBS of Texas, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, Humana and Healthcare Highways, and we verify eligibility for every plan before review — you see your estimated cost-share first. New patients have a short video visit, because plans pay for a visit, not a form. Same-day review applies to self-pay visits; insurance visits begin once we've verified your plan, which is the next business morning if you submit overnight or on a weekend. Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP and TRICARE are billed to the program, and the cash rate isn't offered for covered services.

Full refund if your case isn't accepted: if the clinician doesn't accept your case for online care, for any reason, the full fee is refunded to your card within 10 business days, and we help you get the care you need: a same-day visit at one of our Dallas–Fort Worth clinics or, if you're not near one, clear advice on where to be seen and a written summary of your visit. With insurance, no claim is submitted for the online review. Paying the flat price yourself? You can ask for a written Good Faith Estimate before your visit.

Labs your clinician orders are priced through Passion Health Blood Work if you self-pay, or billed to your plan directly by the lab (CPL) if you use insurance; imaging is billed by the imaging center and medication is paid at your pharmacy. Passion Health doesn't sell, ship or mark up medication.

Follow-up

A 48-hour check-in, 30 days of secure messaging, and lab follow-up when labs were ordered.

Labs your clinician may order

Priced through Passion Health Blood Work

Blood sugar and B12 are the common reversible causes. Ordered only if your clinician decides it's needed — the visit price never includes a test you don't need.

All Blood Work tests
Hemoglobin A1cThree-month blood sugar average$12
Vitamin B12Vegetarian diets, metformin, numbness$18
Draw and clinician-review fee One per order of single tests; not charged when the order includes a Blood Work bundle$29

Typical self-pay total: $89 visit + $59 labs = $148

Self-pay prices are billed by Passion Health. If you use insurance — including Medicare and Medicaid — the lab (CPL) bills your plan directly for the tests under your plan's lab benefits, and the prices above don't apply. Blood is drawn at a Passion Health clinic in North Texas or at any CPL patient service center in Texas; your clinician reviews your results and contacts you.

Questions

Questions about foot numbness care

How much does an online foot numbness visit cost?

The flat cash rate is $89 for a standard evaluation, or use your insurance and pay your plan's cost-share — we show you an estimate before review starts. Labs and imaging are billed separately. Medication is paid at your pharmacy. If the clinician doesn't accept your case for online care, for any reason, the full fee is refunded to your card.

Will I talk to someone, or is it just a form?

A Texas-licensed Passion Health clinician reviews every intake and decides your plan — not software. For foot numbness, Texas law lets the clinician evaluate you from a condition-specific intake plus your photos and records, and they'll call or video you whenever something needs a conversation. New patients using insurance have a short video visit, because plans pay for a visit, not a form.

Is a prescription guaranteed?

No. You're paying for a licensed clinician's evaluation and plan. Many visits end with a prescription; some end with a different plan, a test, or a referral. Controlled medicines — stimulants, benzodiazepines, opioids, testosterone, sleep aids like zolpidem — are never prescribed at an online visit.

Where do I get labs drawn, and what do they cost?

If your clinician orders labs, they're priced through Passion Health Blood Work: for foot numbness that's usually Hemoglobin A1c and Vitamin B12, $59 including the $29 draw-and-review fee, through Passion Health Blood Work (self-pay prices, billed by Passion Health). If you use insurance, including Medicare or Medicaid, the lab (CPL) bills your plan directly and those prices don't apply. You can have blood drawn at a Passion Health clinic in Dallas–Fort Worth or walk into any CPL patient service center in Texas with a photo ID; your clinician reviews your results and contacts you.

Can low vitamin B12 cause numb feet?

Yes. Vitamin B12 is needed for healthy nerves, and low levels can cause numbness and tingling that often starts in the feet. Low B12 is more common with vegetarian or vegan diets, long-term use of some diabetes and acid-reflux medicines, older age, and after stomach surgery. A simple blood test can check your level.

Is foot numbness from diabetes permanent?

Nerve damage from diabetes often can't be fully undone, but keeping blood sugar in range can slow it and may ease symptoms. Just as important, numb feet can't feel injuries, so check your feet daily, wear well-fitting shoes, and get a foot exam at least once a year. Burning nerve pain can often be treated with non-controlled medicines.

Will I need to be seen in person?

Usually, yes. This online visit starts the workup: your clinician reviews your symptoms, medicines and alcohol use, and orders labs if appropriate. New numbness also needs a hands-on check of feeling, reflexes and pulses in your feet, which can't be done through photos. We book that at a Passion Health clinic, billed as a clinic visit (or, if you're not near one of our clinics, we tell you where to be seen near you).

The Texas law behind this visit

A clinician may form a valid patient relationship online using store-and-forward technology — your condition-specific intake, photos and records — paired with a call or video when needed, as long as the in-person standard of care is met (Tex. Occ. Code §111.005(a)(3), §111.007). Your clinician gives you guidance on follow-up care and, with your consent, sends new patients' visit notes to their primary care physician within 72 hours (§111.005(b)).
