Short answer

Can I get perimenopause treatment online in Texas?

Yes, for women 18 and older in Texas. Irregular periods, hot flashes, poor sleep, mood changes? A clinician reviews your symptoms and health history and talks through treatment options that fit you. Review is by a Texas-licensed Passion Health clinician, 24/7 on weekdays and 7 AM–9 PM CT on weekends. The flat price is $89, or use insurance. If labs are needed, your clinician usually orders the Women's Midlife panel (FSH, estradiol and thyroid with blood count, metabolic panel, cholesterol and A1c), $145, through Passion Health Blood Work, drawn at a Passion Health clinic or any CPL patient service center in Texas; with insurance, the lab bills your plan directly. A prescription goes to the pharmacy you choose only if it's appropriate; controlled medicines are never prescribed online. If you have any bleeding after you've gone 12 months or more without a period, you need an in-person visit within a few days instead, and you don't pay the online fee.

About the condition

What to know about perimenopause

Perimenopause is the transition before menopause, when your ovaries' hormone levels rise and fall unevenly. It usually starts in your 40s and can last several years. You may notice irregular periods, hot flashes, night sweats, poor sleep, mood changes, and vaginal dryness. It ends 12 months after your last period, which marks menopause.

Before you start

Is online care right for you?

A good fit for online care

  • Periods that come further apart or skip months, along with hot flashes, night sweats, or poor sleep
  • Mood swings, irritability, or brain fog that started around the same time
  • You want to talk through hormone and non-hormone options
  • You still need birth control and want options that may also ease symptoms

Book an in-person visit instead if

  • Any bleeding after you've gone 12 months or more without a period Within days
  • Bleeding between periods or after sex, periods lasting more than 7 days or coming less than 3 weeks apart, or periods much heavier than before (these need an in-person check, usually with an ultrasound, before treatment) Within days

Not near one of our clinics? Online Care is open to adults anywhere in Texas; our clinics are in Dallas–Fort Worth. If the safety questions or your clinician show you need to be examined, we tell you what kind of care you need and how soon — an emergency room, an urgent care center, or a clinician near you. If you've already paid, the full fee is refunded and you get a written summary of your visit to take with you.

Call 911 or go to the ER now if you have

Emergency room now

  • Very heavy bleeding — soaking through a pad or tampon every hour
  • A swollen, painful leg, or chest pain, while taking hormone therapy or birth control
  • Severe pelvic pain
  • Possible pregnancy with pain on one side of your lower belly, or with unusual vaginal bleeding

Also call 911 for chest pain, trouble breathing, stroke signs, a sudden severe headache, fainting, a seizure, severe bleeding, new confusion, throat swelling, an overdose or thoughts of harming someone else — and call or text 988 for thoughts of harming yourself. If screening routes you before you pay, nothing is charged. If a clinician routes you after you've paid, the full fee is refunded.

How it works

How your perimenopause visit works

  1. 1
    Answer the perimenopause intake

Upload prior results or home readings if you have them.

  2. 2
A clinician reviews it the same day

If labs would help, the order goes to a Passion Health clinic, or to any CPL patient service center in Texas.

  3. 3
    Results go to your clinician

Your clinician reviews them and contacts you with your plan.

  4. 4
    Follow-up on a schedule

Check-ins and repeat labs timed to your condition; 30 days of messaging.

Your care

What to expect from your clinician

What your clinician may consider

  • A review of your cycle changes, symptom score, and personal and family history
  • Hormone therapy — estrogen, plus a progestogen if you have a uterus — or low-dose birth control pills, if they're safe for you and appropriate
  • Non-hormone medicines that can ease hot flashes, if hormones aren't a good fit
  • Labs only if they would change the plan — for example thyroid or blood count with heavy bleeding
  • Birth control options that suit this stage, since pregnancy is still possible until menopause

Shown so you know what to expect. The reviewing clinician decides what, if anything, is appropriate for you — a prescription is never guaranteed, and controlled medicines are never prescribed online.

Labs, tests and Passion Health services

  • If your clinician recommends blood tests, you can have them drawn at a Passion Health clinic or at any CPL patient service center in Texas.

Using insurance: we're in network with BCBS of Texas, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, Humana and Healthcare Highways, and we verify eligibility for every plan before review — you see your estimated cost-share first. New patients have a short video visit, because plans pay for a visit, not a form. Same-day review applies to self-pay visits; insurance visits begin once we've verified your plan, which is the next business morning if you submit overnight or on a weekend. Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP and TRICARE are billed to the program, and the cash rate isn't offered for covered services.

Full refund if your case isn't accepted: if the clinician doesn't accept your case for online care, for any reason, the full fee is refunded to your card within 10 business days, and we help you get the care you need: a same-day visit at one of our Dallas–Fort Worth clinics or, if you're not near one, clear advice on where to be seen and a written summary of your visit. With insurance, no claim is submitted for the online review. Paying the flat price yourself? You can ask for a written Good Faith Estimate before your visit.

Labs your clinician orders are priced through Passion Health Blood Work if you self-pay, or billed to your plan directly by the lab (CPL) if you use insurance; imaging is billed by the imaging center and medication is paid at your pharmacy. Passion Health doesn't sell, ship or mark up medication.

Follow-up

A 48-hour check-in, 30 days of secure messaging, and lab follow-up when labs were ordered.

If you start a new treatment, your clinician checks in at about 3 months to see how it's working and to review side effects and blood pressure, then reviews your plan at least yearly.

Labs your clinician may order

Priced through Passion Health Blood Work

FSH, estradiol and thyroid with the yearly basics, when symptoms need confirming. Ordered only if your clinician decides it's needed — the visit price never includes a test you don't need.

All Blood Work tests
Women's Midlife panelFSH, estradiol and thyroid with blood count, metabolic panel, cholesterol and A1c$145

Typical self-pay total: $89 visit + $145 labs = $234

Self-pay prices are billed by Passion Health. If you use insurance — including Medicare and Medicaid — the lab (CPL) bills your plan directly for the tests under your plan's lab benefits, and the prices above don't apply. Blood is drawn at a Passion Health clinic in North Texas or at any CPL patient service center in Texas; your clinician reviews your results and contacts you.

Questions

Questions about perimenopause care

How much does an online perimenopause visit cost?

The flat cash rate is $89 for a standard evaluation, or use your insurance and pay your plan's cost-share — we show you an estimate before review starts. Labs and imaging are billed separately. Medication is paid at your pharmacy. If the clinician doesn't accept your case for online care, for any reason, the full fee is refunded to your card.

Will I talk to someone, or is it just a form?

A Texas-licensed Passion Health clinician reviews every intake and decides your plan — not software. For perimenopause, Texas law lets the clinician evaluate you from a condition-specific intake plus your photos and records, and they'll call or video you whenever something needs a conversation. New patients using insurance have a short video visit, because plans pay for a visit, not a form.

Is a prescription guaranteed?

No. You're paying for a licensed clinician's evaluation and plan. Many visits end with a prescription; some end with a different plan, a test, or a referral. Controlled medicines — stimulants, benzodiazepines, opioids, testosterone, sleep aids like zolpidem — are never prescribed at an online visit.

Where do I get labs drawn, and what do they cost?

If your clinician orders labs, they're priced through Passion Health Blood Work: for perimenopause that's usually the Women's Midlife panel (FSH, estradiol and thyroid with blood count, metabolic panel, cholesterol and A1c), $145, through Passion Health Blood Work (self-pay prices, billed by Passion Health). If you use insurance, including Medicare or Medicaid, the lab (CPL) bills your plan directly and those prices don't apply. You can have blood drawn at a Passion Health clinic in Dallas–Fort Worth or walk into any CPL patient service center in Texas with a photo ID; your clinician reviews your results and contacts you.

Do I need a blood test to know if I'm in perimenopause?

Usually not. During perimenopause, hormone levels swing from day to day, so a single blood test often can't confirm it. Your age, cycle changes, and symptoms tell your clinician more. Labs may still help rule out other causes, such as thyroid problems, or low iron if your periods are heavy.

Can I still get pregnant during perimenopause?

Yes. Ovulation becomes irregular but can still happen, so pregnancy is possible until you've gone 12 months without a period — longer if you're under 50. If you don't want to become pregnant, keep using birth control. Some options, like low-dose birth control pills, can also steady cycles and ease hot flashes for women who can safely take them.

Is hormone therapy safe?

For many healthy women under 60, or within 10 years of their last period, the benefits of hormone therapy for hot flashes and night sweats outweigh the risks. It isn't safe for everyone — a history of blood clots, stroke, breast cancer, or liver disease usually rules it out. Your clinician reviews your history and talks through the risks and benefits with you.

The Texas law behind this visit

A clinician may form a valid patient relationship online using store-and-forward technology — your condition-specific intake, photos and records — paired with a call or video when needed, as long as the in-person standard of care is met (Tex. Occ. Code §111.005(a)(3), §111.007). Your clinician gives you guidance on follow-up care and, with your consent, sends new patients' visit notes to their primary care physician within 72 hours (§111.005(b)).
