Short answer

Can I get online care for recurrent UTIs in Texas?

Yes, for adults 18 and older in Texas. Keep getting UTIs? A clinician reviews your history, orders a urine culture, and builds a prevention plan with you. Review is by a Texas-licensed Passion Health clinician, 24/7 on weekdays and 7 AM–9 PM CT on weekends. The flat price is $89, or use insurance. If labs are needed, your clinician usually orders Hemoglobin A1c, $41 including the $29 draw-and-review fee, through Passion Health Blood Work (plus urinalysis with reflex culture, billed by the lab), drawn at a Passion Health clinic or any CPL patient service center in Texas; with insurance, the lab bills your plan directly. A prescription goes to the pharmacy you choose only if it's appropriate; controlled medicines are never prescribed online. If you have fever, chills, or pain in your back or side, you need to be seen in person today instead (at our Dallas–Fort Worth clinics, or urgent care near you), and you don't pay the online fee.

About the condition

What to know about recurrent UTIs

A recurrent urinary tract infection (recurrent UTI) usually means two or more UTIs in 6 months, or three or more in a year. It's common in women — especially after menopause, with frequent sex or spermicide use — and can be linked to bladder emptying problems, kidney stones or diabetes. In men, any repeat UTI needs a closer look.

Before you start

Is online care right for you?

A good fit for online care

  • Two or more UTIs in 6 months, or three or more in a year (women)
  • You want a urine culture to guide treatment instead of guessing
  • You'd like a plan to prevent the next infection
  • Repeat infections after menopause

Book an in-person visit instead if

  • Fever, chills, or pain in your back or side Same day
  • You're a man with fever, pain between the scrotum and anus, or trouble emptying your bladder Same day
  • You have a urinary catheter, a kidney transplant, or a known kidney stone Within days
  • Blood in your urine between infections, or after an infection has cleared Within days
  • You're a man and have had 2 or more UTIs in the past year Within days
  • You're pregnant, or could be Within days

Not near one of our clinics? Online Care is open to adults anywhere in Texas; our clinics are in Dallas–Fort Worth. If the safety questions or your clinician show you need to be examined, we tell you what kind of care you need and how soon — an emergency room, an urgent care center, or a clinician near you. If you've already paid, the full fee is refunded and you get a written summary of your visit to take with you.

Call 911 or go to the ER now if you have

Emergency room now

  • Nausea or vomiting with UTI symptoms, or you can't keep fluids or pills down
  • Possible HIV exposure in the last 72 hours — you may need PEP, which must start fast: go to an emergency room now
  • You were sexually assaulted. Go to an emergency room for a sexual assault (SANE) exam and medicine to prevent infection; 24/7 support: 800-656-4673
  • Sudden pain or swelling in a testicle
  • You can't urinate at all
  • Pregnant, with pelvic pain or bleeding

Also call 911 for chest pain, trouble breathing, stroke signs, a sudden severe headache, fainting, a seizure, severe bleeding, new confusion, throat swelling, an overdose or thoughts of harming someone else — and call or text 988 for thoughts of harming yourself. If screening routes you before you pay, nothing is charged. If a clinician routes you after you've paid, the full fee is refunded.

How it works

How your recurrent UTIs visit works

  1. 1
    Answer the recurrent UTIs intake

Upload prior results or home readings if you have them.

  2. 2
A clinician reviews it the same day

If labs would help, the order goes to a Passion Health clinic, or to any CPL patient service center in Texas.

  3. 3
    Results go to your clinician

Your clinician reviews them and contacts you with your plan.

  4. 4
    Follow-up on a schedule

Check-ins and repeat labs timed to your condition; 30 days of messaging.

Your care

What to expect from your clinician

What your clinician may consider

  • A urine culture during an infection, so any antibiotic matches the bacteria
  • A review of past cultures and antibiotics, and of triggers such as sex, spermicides, constipation or menopause
  • Prevention options, if appropriate: vaginal estrogen after menopause, an antibiotic taken after sex or at a low daily dose, or a non-antibiotic option
  • A self-start plan, if appropriate: send a urine sample for culture as soon as symptoms begin, with a treatment plan agreed in advance
  • An ultrasound or urology referral for blood in the urine, kidney stones, infections that keep coming back despite prevention, and for men

Shown so you know what to expect. The reviewing clinician decides what, if anything, is appropriate for you — a prescription is never guaranteed, and controlled medicines are never prescribed online.

Labs, tests and Passion Health services

  • If your clinician recommends a urine culture, you can drop off a sample at a Passion Health clinic or at any CPL patient service center in Texas.
Price & insurance

How much does an online recurrent UTIs visit cost?

Standard evaluation
$89
  • Everything in Quick
  • Lab orders when needed (labs billed separately)
  • 30 days of secure messaging

Using insurance: we're in network with BCBS of Texas, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, Humana and Healthcare Highways, and we verify eligibility for every plan before review — you see your estimated cost-share first. New patients have a short video visit, because plans pay for a visit, not a form. Same-day review applies to self-pay visits; insurance visits begin once we've verified your plan, which is the next business morning if you submit overnight or on a weekend. Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP and TRICARE are billed to the program, and the cash rate isn't offered for covered services.

Full refund if your case isn't accepted: if the clinician doesn't accept your case for online care, for any reason, the full fee is refunded to your card within 10 business days, and we help you get the care you need: a same-day visit at one of our Dallas–Fort Worth clinics or, if you're not near one, clear advice on where to be seen and a written summary of your visit. With insurance, no claim is submitted for the online review. Paying the flat price yourself? You can ask for a written Good Faith Estimate before your visit.

Labs your clinician orders are priced through Passion Health Blood Work if you self-pay, or billed to your plan directly by the lab (CPL) if you use insurance; imaging is billed by the imaging center and medication is paid at your pharmacy. Passion Health doesn't sell, ship or mark up medication.

Follow-up

A 48-hour check-in, 30 days of secure messaging, and lab follow-up when labs were ordered.

When symptoms start, message us — we'll arrange a urine culture, ideally before any antibiotic. 30 days of messaging; a third infection on a prevention plan prompts an in-person review.

Labs your clinician may order

Priced through Passion Health Blood Work

A1c checks for diabetes as a driver. A urine culture, when needed, is run and billed by the lab. Ordered only if your clinician decides it's needed — the visit price never includes a test you don't need.

All Blood Work tests
Hemoglobin A1cThree-month blood sugar average$12
Draw and clinician-review fee One per order of single tests; not charged when the order includes a Blood Work bundle$29

Typical self-pay total for the Blood Work tests above: $89 visit + $41 labs = $130

Not included in this total: Urinalysis with reflex culture, when needed — run and billed separately by the lab, or to your plan.

Self-pay prices are billed by Passion Health. If you use insurance — including Medicare and Medicaid — the lab (CPL) bills your plan directly for the tests under your plan's lab benefits, and the prices above don't apply. Blood is drawn at a Passion Health clinic in North Texas or at any CPL patient service center in Texas; your clinician reviews your results and contacts you.

Questions

Questions about recurrent UTIs care

How much does an online recurrent UTIs visit cost?

The flat cash rate is $89 for a standard evaluation, or use your insurance and pay your plan's cost-share — we show you an estimate before review starts. Labs and imaging are billed separately. Medication is paid at your pharmacy. If the clinician doesn't accept your case for online care, for any reason, the full fee is refunded to your card.

Will I talk to someone, or is it just a form?

A Texas-licensed Passion Health clinician reviews every intake and decides your plan — not software. For recurrent UTIs, Texas law lets the clinician evaluate you from a condition-specific intake plus your photos and records, and they'll call or video you whenever something needs a conversation. New patients using insurance have a short video visit, because plans pay for a visit, not a form.

Is a prescription guaranteed?

No. You're paying for a licensed clinician's evaluation and plan. Many visits end with a prescription; some end with a different plan, a test, or a referral. Controlled medicines — stimulants, benzodiazepines, opioids, testosterone, sleep aids like zolpidem — are never prescribed at an online visit.

Where do I get labs drawn, and what do they cost?

If your clinician orders labs, they're priced through Passion Health Blood Work: for recurrent UTIs that's usually Hemoglobin A1c, $41 including the $29 draw-and-review fee, through Passion Health Blood Work (plus urinalysis with reflex culture, billed by the lab) (self-pay prices, billed by Passion Health). If you use insurance, including Medicare or Medicaid, the lab (CPL) bills your plan directly and those prices don't apply. You can have blood drawn at a Passion Health clinic in Dallas–Fort Worth or walk into any CPL patient service center in Texas with a photo ID; your clinician reviews your results and contacts you.

Why do I need a urine culture for recurrent UTIs?

A culture shows exactly which bacteria are causing the infection and which antibiotics work against them. With repeat infections and repeat antibiotics, resistance becomes more likely, so guessing gets riskier. Culture results also confirm that each episode really is an infection, which guides the right prevention plan.

Can recurrent UTIs be prevented without antibiotics?

Often, yes. Depending on your situation, options include vaginal estrogen after menopause, drinking more fluids, cranberry products for some people, and other non-antibiotic medicines. Antibiotics taken after sex or at a low daily dose are another option when needed. Your clinician will walk through what fits your history.

I'm a man with repeat UTIs. Can I be treated online?

Not fully. For men, repeat UTIs usually come from the prostate or a problem emptying the bladder, so the plan starts with an in-person exam — at one of our clinics, or with a clinician near you — and usually a urology referral. We don't start long-term preventive antibiotics online for men.

The Texas law behind this visit

A clinician may form a valid patient relationship online using store-and-forward technology — your condition-specific intake, photos and records — paired with a call or video when needed, as long as the in-person standard of care is met (Tex. Occ. Code §111.005(a)(3), §111.007). Your clinician gives you guidance on follow-up care and, with your consent, sends new patients' visit notes to their primary care physician within 72 hours (§111.005(b)).
